Mother’s Day 2019

A few weeks ago, the kids and I did a fun little Mother’s Day photo shoot down in Denver. And writing a blog post was my best excuse to show them without being totally annoying on Instagram. How’s that for honesty?! But seriously, Amy did such a great job capturing these sweet moments, I just had to share them. It is also really important to note that Thomas was at the peak of his energetic five-year old boy personality and the fact that as many of these turned out like they did, is a damn miracle. Side note: No, Andy is not in these photos. Yes, we are still married. <3

Looking back on the Mother’s Day post I wrote a couple years ago, I kind of wanted to just copy and paste it here because it still holds true today. I’m still figuring it out. We still have good days, bad days and crazy days. I still filter my life on social media and favor posting things that make me happy. I try letting go of a little more control each day, and I’m not competing with anyone to figure it all out first. Because I’m learning more and more that motherhood truly is a journey, not a competition.

Looking through these photos makes me feel proud of what these two have taught me. Of the world they introduced me to and what they continue to teach me every day. I am also thankful that they did their best cooperating so I could post a pretty picture on Mother’s Day. #honesty. Also, I think it goes without saying that this is not an accurate depiction of real life. But sometimes it makes a mama smile to have some nice pictures of herself with her kiddos.

Happy Mother’s Day to every single woman out there who cares for a child in any way. They don’t have to be your own to be recognized for the love and care you give. And to anyone missing their mom, I hope you are able to remember them in a very special way today.
